musical life from being a treble in Ripon,
through a scholarship to Uppingham School
and thence to King’s College, Cambridge

Members enjoy Tom Williams' presentation. He seems to have
grown a beard since our programme photo above!
Appreciation by David Fisher
Tom Williams, a gifted musician noted for his countertenor voice and his choral conducting, gave our new season a really good start with an overview of his remarkable musical life. From hearing a recording of him singing as a three-year-old, we followed through his time as a chorister at Ripon Cathedral before he went to Uppingham School on a scholarship and thence to King’s College, Cambridge, where he read music and sang in the famous chapel choir. His remarkable musical career was reflected in an eclectic and fascinating selection of recordings some of which involved Tom as conductor, singer or cellist.
