President Neil Crutchley
A former chairman of the LMS, Neil gave his first programme to the society in 1972. Born and educated in Leicester, he was a librarian at the city’s Goldsmith Music and Drama library from 1971 to 1997 and was the Music Critic and columnist for the Leicester Mercury from 1984-2012. He also wrote the paper’s “Out and About” column and contributed to its “Mr. Leicester” local history page from 2000-2018. A former choirmaster and adult education lecturer in music appreciation, Neil is the author of the history of the Leicester Symphony Orchestra and is currently our Society’s President. He is also a committee member of the Leicester Early Music Association (formerly the Early Music Festival). His musical choices include choral, organ and church music, 20th century English music and 19th and 20th century orchestral music.
